17 Apr German Cockroaches: How To Get Rid Of Them?
Because German cockroaches are such stealth pests, an infestation is sometimes difficult to control without access to the right products and methods.
We’ve all suffered from near panic attacks at the sight of a cockroach and violently scrambled for the nearest can of bug spray. After nearly dousing the critter with all of the can’s contents we breathe a sigh of relief when it’s flipped over and stopped moving.
Unfortunately, more has to be done, especially where German cockroaches are concerned.
You see, in addition to being a nuisance pest, they are also rather intelligent; and survival is the name of their game. Once mating is complete, the female German cockroach hides herself deep in an inaccessible void where she deposits her egg capsule (the one carrying up to 40 eggs). This capsule remains out of sight and fully protected until the eggs hatch and the offspring emerges.
Once hatched, the nymphs hang around the capsule for a while feeding off its nutrients and they remain hidden and undetected until they’re old enough to forage for food on their own. Then, the cycle repeats.
While aerosols appear to provide immediate relief, they cannot reach into the areas that cockroaches are hiding in. As a result, the population will continue to grow and infestation becomes more and more of a reality.
What are your options for control? Relocation? Fire? Total Surrender? Not at all.
Gel baiting coupled with proper sanitation is the dynamic duo required for German cockroach control.
Gel baits, when appropriately placed, does all the work for you by attracting cockroaches to them. The cockroaches feed on the bait and takes it back to their nesting sites where other cockroaches then eat. In a matter of days, the gel bait is circulated throughout the entire cockroach nest through first and secondary poisoning, bringing the relief you need.
It’s important to note that for the bait to work, all competing food sources must be eliminated. This means adequate sanitation levels must be maintained so the cockroaches are forced to eat the bait.
